Criteria for induction
How the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee considers athletes and coaches for the Hall.
To be considered for induction into the East High Athletic Hall of Fame (“AHOF”), an East athlete must meet the Mandatory Criteria set below. Not all athletes meeting the Mandatory Criteria will be inducted into the AHOF.
When determining whether an athlete candidate should be elected to the AHOF, the AHOF Committee will also consider other factors including but not limited to the Additional Criteria listed below.
When determining induction into the AHOF for a coach, the AHOF Committee will consider the Coach Criteria listed below. There are no mandatory criteria for coach candidates.
Athletes — mandatory criteria
The athlete must have received an All-State designation in a sport
OR
The athlete must have played Three Sports in one school year and received All-City First Team designation in at least two of those sports.
Additional criteria to consider
- Number of years and different sports in which an athlete receives an All-State designation.
- State Championships.
- Awards received by the candidate such as League Athlete of the Year, Colorado Player of the Year, Gatorade Player of the Year, MVP in the State tournament, McDonald's All-American designation, Dr. Pepper MVP, Scholar/Athlete of the Year by the Colorado Athletic Directors' Association, or other awards that set the athlete apart.
- The athlete's statistics.
- Whether the athlete played multiple sports at East.
Coaches
- Winning a State Championship.
- Being named Colorado Coach of the Year.
- Coaching multiple athletes who win individual State titles (this applies to sports such as wrestling, tennis, track, cross country, golf, gymnastics, swimming and diving).
- Length of time coaching at East.
- Number of State playoff tournament appearances and how deep the coach's team or athletes advanced in the playoffs.
- League, State, or other awards presented to the coach.
- Other intrinsic contributions by the coach to high school athletics, player development, and to the school.
